Theater aan de Parade
Theater aan de Parade is a leading cultural center in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, known for its diverse performances and cultural events. The theater not only offers a unique experience for its visitors but always prioritizes safety. Although the theater was closed for three years for a large-scale renovation, important safety improvements were implemented during this period to meet all modern requirements upon reopening.
The question
As a cultural hotspot with many daily visitors, continuity and safety are of crucial importance for Theater aan de Parade. During its three-year closure for a major renovation, the opportunity was taken not only to replace the fire pump system but also to design and build an entirely new pump room — tailored to the building’s renewed architecture and functions. In collaboration with SPIE Nederland an innovative, sustainable solution was chosen: the electric Firepack from WB Firepacks.
The solution
The sprinkler system of Theater aan de Parade was equipped with an electrically driven Firepack, which draws its water from an internal water supply of no less than 160,000 liters, stored beneath the theater. This water supply ensures reliable and continuous operation, even during the most critical moments.
The choice for the electric Firepack offers an excellent balance between sustainability and efficiency. Due to its compact design and quiet operation, this system is ideal for the theater, where space and comfort are priorities. Furthermore, the advanced control system ensures that the fire protection integrates seamlessly with the dynamics of the cultural center. Thanks to the closure of the theater, the work could be carried out without disrupting the visitor experience. In this way, the Firepack not only provides maximum safety but also a solution that integrates unobtrusively into the unique theater environment.
The challenge
The challenge of this project was to carry out the installation carefully and without disrupting other activities. Thanks to the electrical Firepack, the installation could be successfully completed without compromising the architectural appearance of the theater. Moreover, the closure of the theater provided the opportunity to carry out the installation carefully and without time pressure, so that Theater aan de Parade is now fully prepared for the future – safe and future-proof.
