Commodity Park Rotterdam is an innovative and future-oriented logistics park that focuses on the storage and distribution of ADR goods and bulk goods, such as metals and plastics. The park offers advanced facilities for the storage of commodities and plays a key role in the efficient logistics of raw materials within the Rotterdam region, one of the largest ports in the world.
The question
Commissioned by Altebra Sprinklertechniek B.V. WB Firepacks carries out annual maintenance to ensure reliability and safety. This time it was the pump room of Commodity Park Rotterdam's turn for a thorough inspection. During this maintenance, several crucial components had to be checked and inspected to ensure that fire safety is guaranteed at all times.
In 2016, WB Firepacks installed the complete pump room at Commodity Park Rotterdam, fully tailored to the customer's specific wishes. The installation included four water pump sets, two foam sets with integrated speed pressure control, an EFP (Electronic Foam Proportioner), a WB-CAN controller for central control, and the implementation of the Firecoach module.
The solution
A service technician from WB Firepacks is sent to Commodity Park Rotterdam to carry out the annual maintenance. He starts by replacing the oil filters, which are scheduled to be replaced annually. He then changes the oil and coolant; the oil is checked and topped up every year, and the coolant every two to three years.
In addition, he carries out a visual inspection and checks the water flow by gradually building up the pressure in each part of the pipes to the maximum level. Once the engine reaches the correct values, it measures the temperature and carries out a final functional test. He carefully documents all work and findings, so that no information is lost.
The challenge
The biggest challenge at this location was already successfully tackled in 2016: replacing the old pumps with the installation of new, modern pumps. However, the current challenge lies in maintaining the optimal condition and maximizing the lifespan of these systems, so that they continue to function effectively.
