Bunge Loders Croklaan is known worldwide as an important producer and supplier of special vegetable oils and fats for (inter)national industrial customers. The goal of Bunge Loders Croklaan is: sustainability and environmentally friendly production. The main raw material is palm oil.
The question
Bunge Loders Croklaan considers safety to be of paramount importance. An important part of this is fire safety. The old sprinkler system, a diesel and an electrically driven fire pump were in need of replacement. Instead of these two old sets, two diesel-driven pump sets have been installed. This had to be realized in the same pump room.
The solution
In its search for a possible solution, Bunge Loders Croklaan came across WB Firepacks. The renovation of existing installations is no unknown territory for WB Firepacks. As described in the question, the entire pump room had to be modified. WB Firepacks supplied two diesel-driven fire pumps for this solution.
For this project, a diesel set was installed instead of an electrically driven pump set. The consequence of this change is that all pipes had to be adapted. The challenge
Renovation projects are naturally more complex in nature. This is because a tailor-made solution must be made that fits into the existing pump room. For the project in Wormerveer, four phases have been completed, as it were: the dismantling of the pipework and the old pipework, the hoisting and installation of the new sprinkler pumps and the associated pipework, the commissioning of the sprinkler pumps and, finally, weekly testing of the training. .
