History of WB Firepacks
While we started as a supplier of pumps, WB Firepacks has been committed to serving various customers and supplier ever since 1907. This wonderful company was founded in Groningen, under the name Van Wijk & Boerma and has seen incredible development since. In 1955, the specialism in fire pumps for sprinkler installations was born. Since 2019, we continued under the name WB Firepacks. Over the years, we have achieved quite a lot. Meanwhile, we have added a German (HSA Firepacks) and American (Fire Lion Global) organisation to our portfolio. We are the market leader in the Benelux for the supply of fire pumps (Firepacks).
WB Firepacks, the maker of pump sets for sprinkler, foam and water mist solutions, will expand its service department in 2022. In the new building there is enough space for all colleagues of the service department.
Based in Vancouver, United States, Fire Lion Global will be the wholly-owned subsidiary of WB Firepacks as of Friday, May 7, 2021. Fire Lion is active worldwide as a supplier of foam pumps and foam pump systems.
With an eye to the future and continued growth, the Zwijndrecht main office is expanded with an additional location on the Zoutverkopersstraat, in Zwijndrecht. Part of the warehouse, workshop, and Service department moves to the adjoining building on the Zoutverkopersstraat.
Van Wijk & Boerma Firepacks continues under the new moniker of WB Firepacks. The change in name is born from a desire to apply a single name internationally – matching the company’s ambitions for the future. The new name has also led to a new look: a fine opportunity for introducing the new logo.
Van Wijk & Boerma Firepacks launches Firecoach. Firecoach is an application that realises a complete and realtime insight into the most important Firepack parameters. Firecoach enables the timely anticipation of maintenance and the implementation of optimisations.
An important milestone: Van Wijk & Boerma Firepacks receives FM accreditation for Approved packager in Zwijndrecht and FM Approval accreditation for the Electronic Foam Proportioner (EFP). This accreditation is issued by the world’s largest insurance company: FM Global.
Van Wijk & Boerma Firepacks presents a patented new product: the Electronic Foam Proportioner (EFP). The EFP is a unique electronic dosage system for foam applications. This innovation tests foam installations in a sustainable manner, and reduces costs of required NFPA-testing.
Van Wijk & Boerma Firepacks acquires a German subsidiary: HSA-Firepacks GmbH. Van Wijk & Boerma Firepacks had been active in Germany before, but the takeover makes it much easier to offer service and maintenance as well.
Van Wijk & Boerma Firepacks becomes part of the Lumipol Group – a group of technical, internationally oriented (manufacturing) companies, which supply power systems and/or components to various niche markets: construction, agriculture, industry, and shipping.
Van Wijk & Boerma Pompen changes its name to Van Wijk & Boerma Firepacks. Its specialised activities are now made visible in its name, which matches the specialisation and knowledge in terms of pump installations for fire extinguishing systems: Firepacks.
The Van Wijk & Boerma Pompen offices move from Rotterdam to the Hoedemakersstraat in Zwijndrecht.
Soon after the Rotterdam opening, Van Wijk & Boerma Pompen begins specialising in pump units that are powered by diesel engines, and used in dewatering projects foreign and domestic. The world of insurance approaches Van Wijk & Boerma Pompen for the use of pump in fire safety, giving rise to a specialisation in Firepacks for sprinkler installations.
Van Wijk & Boerma Groningen grows and opens its second office in Rotterdam, under the name Van Wijk & Boerma Pompen.
In September of 1907, Van Wijk & Boerma Groningen is founded by Mr Van Wijk and Mr Boerma. Pumps are supplied to various clients from Groningen.
